Our definition of Atlantic produced

With our “Atlantic Produced” program, Co-op is attempting to give consumers information on the broadest range of products possible that have a significant Atlantic contribution.

That is why we consider foods produced or processed in our region to be Atlantic produced.

Just Us! Coffee is one good example. Coffee beans are not grown in Atlantic Canada. But this worker-owned co-operative roasts, packages and distributes its products from its head office in Nova Scotia.

Lay’s potato chips are a business owned by a multi-national company, but made from in Atlantic Canada from Atlantic potatoes.

For us, both of these are Atlantic Produced products, as are vegetables grown in New Brunswick, beef from PEI, and thousands of other products.

There are many elements in play when we begin considering Atlantic foods. We believe every person must make their own decision on what is important for them in their purchasing decisions. With “Atlantic produced”, we are happy to provide you with a tool to assist you in your efforts to help our environment, our economy, and our future through you food choices.
